Viola Gelt

Viola Cormier Gelt, 99, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 12:25 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.

Mrs. Gelt was born February 19, 1921 in Church Point, LA and was raised in the Cajun culture.  During her younger years, she enjoyed fishing.  She also enjoyed gardening, taking rides and trips and loved to sit outside and watch the birds.

Mrs. Gelt is survived by her children, Phyllis Hirsch, John Gelt, and Michael Gelt and wife Michelle; and her sisters, Mary and Margie.

She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip; sisters, Esther, Alma and Lillie; and brother, Russell.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 13, 2020 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  A private interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens.  Her visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
