Violet "Vi" L. Keller, 93, passed away peacefully in a local hospital on December 17, 2014. Vi was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, and resided there until the age of 17 at which time her family moved to Lake Charles. She graduated from Lake Charles High School and was also in the first graduating class of McNeese State University. She worked at Chennault Air Base from the time of its opening until it was closed. She then worked at the Lake Charles Social Security office until her retirement. She was a long time member of the American Business Women's Association and enjoyed traveling to many of their conventions throughout the United States over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Nell Keller, and her long time friend Eldora Gaithe. Much appreciation is given to the staff of The Gardens/Guardian House for their caring for his needs the past couple of years. Also greatly appreciated is the staff of the sixth floor of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for the special care Vi received these past two weeks. On Saturday, December 20, 2014 there will be a gathering of friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Orange Grove cemetery.
