Violet Morrow Gibson

Violet Vicie Morrow Gibson, 92, of Lake Charles died Sunday, October 07, 2012.


Mrs. Gibson was born and raised in Allen Parish and has lived nearly seventy years in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of Fairview High School and during her younger years owned a Country Grocery in the Fairview, LA community. Mrs. Gibson loved flowers, potting plants, gardening and making handicrafts. She also enjoyed being an active member of University United Methodist Church.


Mrs. Gibson was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, as her greatest times were those she shared with her family. She will be most remembered for her love of her family and her church.


She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Gerald Gibson and wife Linda of Madisonville, LA; two daughters, Gwen Kucner and husband Richard of Timonium, MD and Charlene Greene and husband Donny of Lake Charles; twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Mid Gibson; parents, DeWitt and Vicie Johnson Morrow and one brother, D.D. Morrow.


The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Emeritus Senior Living and the caregivers of their mother for their excellence in care and compassion.


Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in University United Methodist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Officiates of the service will be her grandsons, Reverend Eric Greene and Reverend Troy Greene. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday in Black Jack Cemetery in Grant, LA. Visitation Tuesday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the funeral home. Visitation Wednesday will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the church.
