Virginia Mae Turner, 78, of Lake Charles passed away Monday, March 03, 2014 in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Turner was born in Des Arc, AR, raised and educated in surrounding areas of Arkansas and has lived fifty years in Lake Charles. She had a love of life and enjoyed actively living it. She enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, coffee with friends and family, nightly walks with her daughter and she loved to dance. She also loved working in her yard, pampering her plants daily and sharing her results with family, friends and their homes. Mrs. Turner's gift of gardening was recognized by Good House Keeping, as she once received a knock on the door and an offer to photograph and publish her flower gardens. Her greatest times were those shared with her children and grandchildren, she had an overwhelming love and devotion to her family, instilling in them the importance of family while leaving a legacy of the importance of family value. Mrs. Turner will be most remembered for her spirit, as she had the ability to brighten anyone's day. She leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Joyce M. Nichols and husband Ronnie of Gillis, Mary Hood of Moss Bluff, James T. Turner and wife Billie of Saraland, AL and Rickey J. Turner of Lake Charles; eight grandchildren, John Ryan Hood, Sarah Todd and husband Nathan, Warren Nichols and wife Jessica, Alan Nichols and wife Kim, Chris Turner and wife Kristi, Eric Turner and wife Wendy, John Turner and Jennifer Turner; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Matlock Edwards and Betty Bush of AR and three brothers, John T. Rambo of MI and Herman and Billy Rambo of AR. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tommy Turner; parents, John T. and Marie Fox Rambo and a sister, Freda Hogan. Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM Friday, March 07, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Glenn George will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home. The family of Mrs. Turner would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Christus St. Patrick Hospital and Hospice for their excellence in caring for their mother.
