Virginia "Ann" Ashton Clooney, 70, of Lake Charles, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Clooney was born in Logansport, LA, lived most her life in Sulphur and has lived the past fifteen years in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of Sulphur High School and attained an Accounting Certificate at Sowela Technical Institute. She was a member of St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Clooney enjoyed reading, shopping, cooking, family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be most remembered as loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 51 years, James Ray Clooney, III of Lake Charles; two sons, David Scott Clooney and wife Nancy of Carlyss and Michael Lee Clooney of Lake Charles; four grandchildren; Elizabeth Clooney of Carlyss and Chase Clooney, Sean Clooney and Blake Clooney, all of Sulphur; two great- grandchildren; Makayla Boutwell of Carlyss and Ella Grace Clooney of Sulphur; two sisters, Mary Jo White of Carencro and Carol LaBorde of Sulphur and three nephews, Corey LaBorde of Sulphur and Eric White and Tommy White, both of Carencro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, E.C. and Clotield Ashton.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Henry Bowden will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Friday will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
