Virginia Fletcher Baker, 88, of Lake Charles, died Sunday January 4, 2015 at a local care center. Virginia was a native of Cusseta, Alabama. She is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. In October 1948 she married Robert Erwin Baker and for over fifty years, they made Lake Charles their home and raised their family here. Virginia was an active member of St. Michael's and All Angel's for over fifty years where she served on the vestry, altar guild and many other positions of leadership. She was also an active member of the Alpha Delta Pi alumni and in the Lake Charles community, serving in many organizations, including PEO. Preceding Virginia in death are her parents, Walter Zabud and Imogene Lawson Fletcher; husband of 63 years, Robert Erwin Baker; brother, John Milford Fletcher and sister, Imogene Fletcher Thomas. Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her children, Robert Erwin (Mary) Baker, Jr., Lake Charles; Imogene Baker (John) Konvalinka, Chattanooga, TN and John Fletcher (Nan) Baker, Baton Rouge eight grandchildren, Robert Erwin Baker III, John Tod Baker, John Patrick Konvalinka, Jr., Kathleen Konvalinka (Robert) Chapman, William Lawson Konvalinka, Virginia Fletcher Konvalinka, Katheryn Ann Baker, and John Fletcher Baker, Jr.; three great grandchildren, Robert Erwin Baker IV, Isabelle Lawson Chapman and Robert Foster Chapman III. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturday January 10, 2015 at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church hall. Services will be at 5:00 in the sanctuary of St. Michael and All Angels. Inurnment will follow services at the church columbarium. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church, St. Jude Children Research Hospital or to the Charity of your choice.
