Virginia Armentor Brown

Virginia Armentor Brown, 88, of Lake Charles passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in a local care facility.

Mrs. Brown was born on April 2, 1936 in Kinder and was raised and lived all of her life in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School where she was a Kiltie. Mrs. Brown was a lifelong member of Lake Charles Bible Church and participated in their Vacation Bible School.

In her younger years, she found delight in the sport of bowling. A skilled seamstress and passionate cook, she enjoyed creating beautiful garments and delicious meals that brought warmth and joy to those around her. She cherished her time spent at the camp on Bundick Lake where she enjoyed many peaceful moments and built lasting memories.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Billy Joe Brown, Jr. of Lake Charles, Glenda Sweat (James “Buddy”) of Iowa, and Brenda Sonnier (Charles) of Kinder; siblings, Fern Foster (H.G.) of Lake Charles, Ramona Williams (George “Bud”), and Shirley Jensen of Houston; six grandchildren, Jenny Stelly, Amy Sweat, Michael Sonnier, Kate Sonnier Johnson, Joseph Brown, and Kimberly Brumby; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Billy Joe Brown, Sr.; her parents, Nina and Leon Armentor; sisters, Frances Richardson and Patsy Brown; and a brother Adam Joseph “AJ” Armentor.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. John Cernek will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation will begin on Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
