Virginia Dare Hale Talton, died on Thursday, June 23, 2011, in a hospital in Tyler, Texas surrounded by her sons and daughters in law.
She was born April 21, 1921 in Waldo, Arkansas. She moved to Minden, Louisiana as a child and married her high school sweetheart after graduating from Minden High School. She worked at a shell plant during WWII . She and her husband moved to Lake Charles in 1948 where they raised their three sons who were graduates of McNeese State University.
She was an active member in the PTA and other school activities. She was a member of University United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Talton, her mother Lucy Cox Hale of Minden and her father, Gus Hale of Texarkana. Survivors include three sons, Tommy Edward Talton Jr. and wife Mary of Green Valley, Arizona, David Hale Talton and wife Marcha of Green Valley, Arizona, and John Joseph Talton and wife Marsha of Whitehouse, Texas; four grandchildren; David Talton Jr., Jason 'Talton, John Wesley Talton and Timothy Daniel Dupree.
Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2011, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Ed House and Marge Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Horne. Visitation is 10-3 Sunday, June 26, 2011 in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the University United Methodist Church, 3501 Patrick St., Lake Charles, LA 70605.
