Virginia Gwendolyn Schnauder

Virginia Gwendolyn Summers Schnauder, 77, of Lake Charles, LA died at 10:00 PM on Monday, May 20, 2013 in her residence.

Mrs. Schnauder was born April 15, 1936 in New Orleans, LA and graduated from Fortier High School. She moved to Lake Charles in 1959. Mrs. Schnauder was a member of St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the choir. She enjoyed reading and gardening and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Schnauder is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Kemp and husband Charles Chuck of Lake Charles and Martha Schnauder Damian and husband J. C. of Westlake; son, Kenneth Schnauder and wife Debra of Baton Rouge, LA; sister, Wendolyn Hooter and husband Jimmy of Waggaman, LA; grandchildren, Matthew Kemp, Andrew Hays, Lance Schnauder, Daniel Kemp, Todd Hays, Gabriela Damian, Christopher Damian, Kristen Shaffer and Sydney Meaux; and great-grandchild, Ryleigh Damian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harold Schnauder, Jr.

Her memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Karl Klaus will officiate. Her body was cremated under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
