Catherine Virginia Thayer, 104, of Lake Charles entered into rest, Thursday, October 27, 2011 from the comfort of her assisted living home following a brief illness.

Mrs. Thayer enjoyed needle work and was a talented seamstress, having sewn many clothes for her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, having passed on this love to generations of her family. She was a member of St. Luke Simpson Methodist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Phyllis Thayer Rogers of Lake Charles; two grandchildren, Julie Rogers Bell of Mandeville and Carol Rogers Breglio and husband James of Colorado Springs, CO and three great- grandchildren; William Jack Bell of Baton Rouge and Dylan Breglio and Anthony Breglio, both of Colorado Springs, CO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ellis Thayer; one grandson, Capt. Glenn J. "Skip" Rogers and one brother, John S. Roller.

With respect of Mrs. Thayer's wishes, Graveside services will be private. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery.

The family extends sincere appreciation to the nurse and staff, especially the PCA's, of The Gardens for their loving care.
