Vivian Elaine Steele Robertson, 94, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 14, 2012, from her earthly home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Born in Jennings, Louisiana to Silas and Eleanor Walters Dudley, Mrs. Robertson lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She was a 1936 graduate of LaGrange High School and attended Vincent Business College. In the early days of her career, she worked for Gulf States Utilities, where she met her first husband and the father of her children, Charles Spencer Steele, Jr. She later worked as Deputy Clerk for the Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court for fifteen years, retiring in 1978. Mrs. Robertson was an active and faithful member of the First Christian Church of Lake Charles. She also served as a Pink Lady for Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She was a member of The Sewing Club, where she shared her love of sewing and creative talent and abilities with friends. She loved to paint with oils, many beautiful landscapes, old homes, still portraits, flowers, especially magnolias.
Mrs. Robertson is survived by her daughter, Carol Cox and husband Joseph of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; son, Gordon S. Steele and wife Marie of Hemphill, Texas; three grandchildren, Gordy Steele and wife Vicki of Lufkin, Texas, Teri Smith and husband Greg of Natchez, Mississippi, and Sam Netterville and wife Teresa of Springhill, Tennessee; two step grandchildren, Erin Richard and Elaine Genna; two step daughters, Margaret Fullington and husband Mike of Lake Charles and Beth Reese, also of Lake Charles; five great grandchildren and Sister-in-law Joanna Steele Viccellio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, C. S. Steele, Jr.; her second husband, Wayne Robertson; and a grandson, Spence Netterville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Neal Livingston will officiate. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
