William Logan “Buddy” Perkins, 94, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at home with his family by his side. He was born on February 19, 1930, in Sulphur, Louisiana, to William Mitchell (W. M.) and Maurina Young Perkins.
Buddy was a lifelong resident of the Lake Charles/Sulphur area. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1947 and went on to study at McNeese State University. He retired twice from Cities Service Refinery after 33 years of service. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Louisiana Masons Grand Lodge (60 years), and the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He was a true patriot.
He was a faithful member of Sale Street Baptist Church and St. Luke Simpson Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Lake Charles Country Club where he enjoyed the weekly bourre’ game with his buddies. An avid Bridge player, Buddy was a member of the Lake Charles Duplicate Bridge Club.
Buddy enjoyed golf, fishing, fly tying, shrimping with his dad, hunting and trapping. But most of all he appreciated spending time with his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are, his children, Travis L. Perkins of Hackberry, Jeffrie L. Duberville (Don) of Sulphur, Lacie A. Perkins (Francia Chaisson) of Longville, Mitchell Francis Perkins (Nok) of Bridge City, TX, his stepdaughter, Cheryl Clancy of Jacksonville, FL, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Gloria Marie Rupp.
A Celebration of Buddy’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 14, 2024 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on the evening of Saturday, July 13 at 4:00 PM in the funeral home, and will continue until 8:00 PM, resuming on Sunday at 12:00 Noon, and continuing until the start of the service at 2:00 PM.
