Born in Grand Chenier on October 18, 1932 to Matilda Sturlese Doxey and James Ulric Doxey. He passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024 with his loving family at his side.
Waldon was raised in Grand Chenier, LA where he grew up in the old Doxey home. He later moved to Cameron and graduated from Creole High School in 1950. He played on the first six-man football team, baseball, and basketball. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he honorably and faithfully served our country, stationed in Germany.
He came home and married the love of his life, Edna Elena Morales on June 23, 1956. They had 4 miracle children. He graduated from Sowela Technical Institute in refrigeration mechanics. He later worked in the pogy industry. He fulfilled his dream of opening a gas station along with his son, Lance. Doxey Mobile Station was a place many of the community would go to visit and pass time. Gardening was his hobby, and his bell pepper “trees” proved it. With his golden personality he was “Papa” to all his grandkids. He loved to travel with family to many places in the earlier years. He was also an amazing cook and made the best homemade tortillas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Waldon “Lance” Doxey, sisters Bonnie Miller, Verda Mae Folse and LouEtta Nunez; brothers James A Doxey, William “Billy” Doxey, Oren Doxey and Robert Doxey; beloved Uncle William and Aunt Filona Sturlese Guidry, with whom he spent his early years with and treated him as though he was their own child.
He leaves to mourn his loss, but cherish his memories; his beloved wife of 68 years, Edna Morales Doxey; daughters, Tressa Hebert and husband Charles of Ragley; Milissa Martin of Lake Charles; Jana Philyaw and husband John of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Arlon Hebert, Garet Hebert, Bret Hebert, Tyler Culpepper (Gia), Lakyn Culpepper, Shelby Ashfield (Cameron); great children, Hunter Culpepper, Zachary Culpepper, Emery Solari, Kairon Culpepper, Nolan Culpepper, Natalie Culpepper, David Ashfield and Charlotte Ashfield; son of the heart, Rusty Martin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, sister in laws and brother in laws.
