Wallace Howard Nichols, 72, of Moss Bluff passed away at 2:07 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in a local hospital. Mr. Nichols was born on November 30, 1941 in Kinder, LA and resided in Moss Bluff for over 40 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of 4 years. Mr. Nichols previously worked at Citgo Refinery and Occidental Oil Company. Following retirement, he and his son together developed land and created subdivisions such as Woodland Forest, Coffey Pines, Christy Acres, and Holbrook Acres. Mr. Nichols was an active runner and participated in marathons. He enjoyed many things in life including the outdoors, rodeos, horses, and watching football. His most enjoyable moments were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he adored. Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 50 years, Regena "Jeanie" Nichols; a son, Kenny Nichols and his wife Carrie; two daughters, Christy Richard and husband Tim and Renee Monceaux and husband Robert all of Moss Bluff; brother, Weggie Nichols of Kinder, Isaac Nichols of Kinder, Wayne Nichols of Gillis, and Winston Nichols of Scranton, VA; sisters, Lucille Ellender of Sulphur, Margie Nell Turner of Pitkin, and Emmadean Lambert of Mansfield, TX; and a special sister-in-law, Chris Selby of Lee's Summit, MO. He also leaves behind 5 beloved grandchildren, Tara Leeds and husband Shelby, Jessica and Ethan Richard, and Gracie and Doran Monceaux. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jared Richard; his parents, DW and Sina Nichols; and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Old Ritchie Cemetery on South Perkins Ferry Rd in Moss Bluff. Visitation will begin on Monday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Mike Turner and also to the staff of Christus St. Patrick's Hospital for their loving care and compassion given to Mr. Nichols during his illness.
