Walter Alvin Doherty

Walter Alvin. Doherty, 83, of Sulphur passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in a local hospital. A lifelong resident of Sulphur, LA Walter retired as a Conservation Officer from the State of Louisiana. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. Walter was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Those left to cherish his memory are his son-in-law, Billy Royer; granddaughter, Jessica Royer and grandson, Rusty Royer and wife, Monica; great grandson, Wyatt Royer all of Sulphur; companion Betty Jo Dermon; brother, S. Heywood Doherty of Anacoco; sister, Mary Lou Desormeaux of Westlake; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ethel East Doherty, daughter, Katherine Royer and great granddaughter, Jordan Royer and 9 siblings. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Robison Funeral Home Chapel from 4-8 p.m. and will resume on Thursday at 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Graveside services will be at 11 a .m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur, LA with Deacon Johnny Mounce officiating.
