Walter Goff

Walter Goff, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully from his home surrounded by his family on March, 12, 2018.

Mr. Goff was born on March 28, 1932 in Morgantown, WV to Walter J. and Elda Cramer Goff. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force before working and eventually retiring as an Operating Engineer. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 406. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was a devoted member and served as a deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church. He will be remembered for being an avid fisherman who loved being on the water.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 64 years, Josie Bruno Goff of Lake Charles; sons, Craig Goff and Steve Goff of Lake Charles; daughter, Karen Goff Digiglia of Lake Charles; granddaughter, Nicole Karam (James) of Lake Charles; grandson, Trey Digiglia of Lake Charles; great granddaughters, Emma Karam and Avery Karam; sisters, Barbara Ashburn (Paul) of Morgantown, WV; and Patty Bucklew (Steve) of WV; as well as, loving brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews, and church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter J. Goff and Elda Cramer Goff.

His funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Dr. Michael Shamblin and Rev. Francis LaRocque will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church on Wednesday from 11 AM until the start of the service.

The family would like to extend special thanks to his caregivers and the physicians and nursing aides and staff at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. They would also like to thank the staff of Brighton Bridge Hospice and the staff of the local Veteran’s Affairs office.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Goff’s name to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
