Walter Joseph Gatte, 93, of Sulphur passed away on October 30, 2014 in a local hospital. Walter was born in Evangeline, LA and lived in Sulphur most of his life. He worked for Local #106 as a pipefitter and a welder for over 35 years. Walter attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and loved to work in his garden. Walter is survived by his daughters, Judy Armer and husband Harold of Sulphur and Belle McCombs of Kinder, LA; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 3 sons, Walter Edward Gatte, Gene Gatte and Terry Gatte; 2 brothers, Isaac and A.J. Gatte; and 5 sisters, Ida Broussard, Mary, Bernice, Helen Hardy and Inez. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 2 PM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bud Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Farquhar Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 4-9 PM with a rosary at 6 PM. Visitation will resume on Sunday at 9 AM at the funeral home until time of the service.
