Wana Landry Duffy, 82, of Lake Charles died at 4:45 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2014 in a local hospital surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Duffy was born on June 30, 1932 in Lake Charles, LA where she was raised and resided all of her life. She was a graduate of St. Charles Academy and was named salutatorian of her class. Mrs. Duffy was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church as a greeter as well as sang in the funeral choir. Affectionately known to all as "Nonnie", she will be remembered for her "on the go" personality and always living her life to the fullest, never meeting a stranger. She enjoyed playing bingo and belonged to a bowling league for more than 50 years. Mrs. Duffy was family oriented and was highly involved in her children and grandchildren's lives and activities. She enjoyed sports, cards, and board games, especially when her family was involved. Those left to cherish her memory are six children, Patricia Rauser and husband Phillip, Stephen Duffy, Gene Duffy and wife Penny, Timothy Duffy and wife Connie all of Lake Charles, Lauren Mimun and husband Clement of Florida, and Micha Duffy and wife Krista of Shreveport; five siblings, Alcide Landry of Hattiesburg, MS, Germaine Winn of Lake Charles, Robert Landry of Jennings, Frances Raley and John Landry both of Lake Charles; fourteen grandchildren, Shawn Duffy Reynolds and husband Lance, Jesse and Jordan Rauser, Dustin Duffy, Shayna Duffy Manuel and husband Bryan, Cara Mimun, Kayleigh Duffy, Evan Mimun, Eric Duffy and wife Maegen, Cloe and Codi Mimun, and Drew, Klaire, and Karoline Duffy; and four great grandchildren, Gannon, Austyn, and Mia Manuel, and Charlotte Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Norman Duffy; her parents, Germaine and Robert Landry; and two siblings, Marie Reeves and Hubert Landry. Visitation will begin on Monday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary being held at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until leaving to go to the church at 9:45 AM. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be the six grandsons and two grandsons-in-law. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital staff, especially the ICU staff.
