Wanda Gary

Wanda Maddox Gary, 65, of Lake Charles, LA passed away at 4:55 AM on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in her residence.

Wanda Gary was born September 23, 1947 in Bunkie, LA, where she was raised, and has lived in Lake Charles for almost fifty years. She previously worked at Avis Rent-A-Car for over ten years, where she transported vehicles. She worked at Wal-Mart on Highway 14 for seventeen years, where she worked as a door greeter. She enjoyed crocheting, making necklaces and earrings and playing on the computer. She will always be remembered for her opinionated spirit and her giving heart. She had a special love for her many dogs.

Wanda Gary is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Phillip J. Gary, Sr.; son, Phillip J. Joe Gary, Jr.; brothers, Adrian Maddox and Ronald Maddox; sisters, Joan Wood, Mary Dee Hanagriff Courville, all of Lake Charles, and Alice Thibodeaux of Liberty, TX; and grandchild, Delene Louviere.

She was preceded in death by her son, Adrian Ray Gary; parents, Rose and Charlie Maddox; and brothers, Buzz Maddox, Earl Maddox, and Willie Dedox Maddox.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Chuck Huddleston and Doug Schmidz will officiate. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 P M and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
