Wanda Hunter Ellis, 57, of Westlake passed away at 6:22 PM on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in a Houston hospital.
 
Mrs. Ellis was born on December 14, 1958 in Macclenny, FL. Mrs. Ellis was a graduate of Baker County High School. She moved to Lake Charles in 1981 and then to Westlake in 1984. Mrs. Ellis had worked at the old Moss Bluff Wal-Mart for seven years but her passion in life was babysitting her “babies.” She was a member of Crossroads Church.
 
She enjoyed making crafts and scrapbooking and she also loved being outside in her yard and gardening. Her favorite past time was enjoying the company of her family. Mrs. Ellis took pride in serving the community and helping the less fortunate. She was involved in many charities.
 
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 33 years, Billy W. Ellis; three sons, Richard Issac Barton (Holly) of Moss Bluff, Kevin Wayne Barton of Westlake, and William Dewayne Ellis of Breaux Bridge; two brothers, Richard Hunter, Jr. of Glen St. Mary, FL and George David Hunter, Sr. of Macclenny, FL; her parents, Patsy and Richard Hunter, Sr. of Macclenny, FL; and four grandchildren, Kanyn, Isabella, Jacob, and Lochlan.
 
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Reid and Cleo Stafford; paternal grandparents, Rev. Roy Hunter, Sr., Maggie Hunter, and Elsie Fish; daughter-in-law, Wanda Barton; and an aunt, Dorothy Daigle.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 31, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Terry Ardizzone will officiate. Burial will follow in Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Saturday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Sunday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
