Wanda Jean Mckain Bishop

Wanda Jean McKain Bishop, 81, of Moss Bluff, LA died at 6:18 PM on Friday, March 15, 2013 in her residence.


Mrs. Bishop was born May 11, 1931 in Ponca City, OK, where she was raised, and has lived in Lake Charles / Moss Bluff area for the past sixty years. She worked as a supervisor for Conoco from 1965 to 1981 in the legal land department, where she was the first woman in this field in her area. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling the country with her husband working together as contract Right of Way agents for several different pipeline companies. Mrs. Bishop was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where she previously was a Sunday school teacher. She was very passionate about the Nazarene Church and even wrote an Easter Cantata. Mrs. Bishop was very active with her children when they were younger, serving as the PTA President at Frasch Elementary and was a Blue Bird Leader and Campfire Girl Leader. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, shopping and decorating. She also loved spending time with her family and always made holidays special for everyone.


Mrs. Bishop is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Max Bishop of Moss Bluff; daughters, Sharon Dailey and husband Carroll of Sulphur, Barbara Mason and husband Stephen of College Station, TX, Susan Janies and husband Rick of Sulphur, Debbie Ferrando and husband Mike of Pasadena, TX, and Cathi Manual of Moss Bluff; brothers, Homer McKain of Houston and Donald McKain of Ponca City, OK; sister, Darlene McAllister of Ponca City, OK; eleven grandchildren, Kelly Butler, Amy Byrd, Sarah Broussard, Laura Olivarez, Stephanie Reed, Britain Moore, Timothy Moore, Christopher Moore, Zachary Moore, Kade Savoie, and Luke Manuel; and great-grandchildren, Britney Butler, Katelyn Butler, Mallory Butler, Orin Byrd, Sydnee Byrd, Emmy Broussard, Brayden Reed, Mason Reed, and one on-the-way, Elijah Savoie.


She was preceded in death by her grandchild, Clancy Janies; and parents, Homer Errett and Barbara Elizabeth Crigger McKain.


Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the First Church of the Nazarene. Reverend S. E. Stiles will officiate. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery - South. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.


Pallbearers for the service will be her grandsons.
