Wanda Lee Farnell Lambert, 73 of Lake Charles, LA passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023.

Wanda was born March 17, 1950 in Brookline, Massachusetts. She was the second of seven children born to the late William J. and Josephine H. Klempa Farnell.

She was a graduate of LaGrange High School, then enrolled in McNeese State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science – Major in Biology. She was a dedicated and accomplished student, starting as a LCMH junior volunteer in the lab before obtaining her degree.

Following McNeese she began working in the lab of Dr. Cook’s office, followed by Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, Medical Arts Group, Christus Medical Group, and the Urology Clinic until her retirement in 2017. Her love of learning reached far into her adult years, not only did she speak fluent Latin, but she also obtained her notary license “just because” and successfully passed the test on the first try.

She was very involved in her children’s lives, she participated in all of their activities; serving as a den mother in Camp Fire for her daughter and a Special Olympics bocce and bowling coach for her son. She also supported him in the SO horseshoes and swimming.

She was a devout member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where she also had taught Sunday school, and volunteered her time for adoration.

In her down time she enjoyed cross stitching, gardening, crafting, giving knowledgeable advice, watching NCIS or the BritBox channel, or continuing her mother’s baking and cooking traditions.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Josephine H. Farnell; a son-in-law, Basile Khoury; brother-in-law, Chuck Westney; and her ex-husband, Daryl C. Lambert.

Those left to cherish her memory; two children, Jennifer Lambert and partner Frank McIntosh, and Joel Lambert; siblings, JoAnne Westney, Linda Whitson, James Farnell, Paul (Vivian) Farnell, David Farnell, and Peggy (Bill) Bushnell; numerous nieces and nephews; along with her beloved fur grandchildren, Dexter, Hazel, Herman, Moon, and Morticia.

Funeral Mass to be celebrated Saturday, November 18, 2023 led by Father Bond beginning at 10am. Visitation to be held in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home Friday, November 17, 2023 beginning at 4pm to 8pm with a Rosary led by the “Christ the King” ladies beginning at 6pm. Visitation will resume Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 9am till 9:45am. She will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.
