Wanda Petross Ward, 89, left this earth to go to her heavenly home on November 23, 2013. Her love for family and strong Christian faith were a role model to all who knew her. Mrs. Ward was born to William McKinley (Skeet) & Geneva Petross on August 19, 1924, in Okmulgee, OK. She met Grady Ward, her husband of nearly 71 years, in Gary, Indiana in 1940; they were married in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 3, 1942. Following the completion of Mr. Ward's military service, the family moved to Maplewood in 1945 where they raised four daughters. They were members of Maplewood Church of Christ for over 60 years; moved to Lake Charles in 2002 where they served the Lord at Enterprise Boulevard Church of Christ. Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, brother Randall Petross, daughter Sandra Little, and son-in-law Jim (Rad) Little. She is survived by her husband; daughters Linda Moorhead (John), Debbie Anderson (Jimmy), and Rebecca Ward (Ben Kaczmarek); eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. The memorial service will be Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home and will be officiated by Jason Clark and Brian Spicer, ministers of Enterprise Boulevard and Maplewood Churches of Christ respectively. A private burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your charity of choice.
