Warner Pie Richard, Sr.

December 9, 1923 — December 3, 2010

Warner "Pie" Richard, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of December 3, 2010.


The last of ten children, he was born to William and Caroline Hanks Richard in Beaumont, TX on December 9, 1923. Mr. Richard moved to Branch, LA, where he met the love of his life, Ruby Spell. They wed on May 30, 1941. Their marriage produced seven children five sons and two daughters. He spent his life supporting his family as a surveyor with Reid's Surveying. He was also an avid rabbit hunter.


Mr. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; sons, David, Dean, and Sonny; and grandson, Delbert Wayne Richard.


He leaves behind to cherish his memory; his loving and devoted wife of sixty-nine years, Ruby; sister, LoVora Frederick; children, Robert Richard and wife Katy of Big Lake, Gary Richard and wife Faye of Westlake, Kathy Stutes and husband Emery of Sulphur, and Charlotte Richard of Lake Charles; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.


His funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Robert D. Sonnier will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
