Wayne Conly McGilvray, 84, of Lake Charles, LA, died on Sunday, October 5, 2014. Mr. McGilvray was born April 26, 1930 in Forest Hill, LA, where he was raised and graduated high school. He served his country in the U.S. Army and has lived in Lake Charles for the past sixty years. He worked for Gulf States (now Entergy) on the Line Crew for thirty-five years, retiring in 1984. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a past member of the NRA. He also enjoyed reading, cooking and gardening; having raised over seventy tomato plants this year. He was a hard worker and will be missed dearly. Mr. McGilvray is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Cleo McGilvray; son, Joel McGilvray; grandson, Aaron McGilvray, all of Lake Charles; and niece, Gayle Toney of Forest Hill, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha McGilvray and brother, Everett McGilvray. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Jerot Grissom will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
