Wayne Walker, 71, of Sulphur passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.
Wayne worked offshore, retiring from Shell Oil Company after 20 years of service. He was mechanically inclined and could fix anything; he really enjoyed reminding his friends and family of this ability. He also enjoyed debating his point of view. Wayne had a passion for hunting, especially duck hunting. He loved riding motorcycles with his wife, loved listening to old music, and was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints. Family was most important to Wayne, and he cherished each moment spent with his.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Jennifer Melancon Walker; four children, Paige Marcantel (Lee) of Sulphur, Jason Walker of Winnie, Damon Shane Walker (Amber) of Sulphur, Joshua Walker (Katlyn) of Baytown; nine grandchildren, Jordan Wollam, Stevie Nicole Carlock, Brittany Miller, Sydney Maur, Bryath Walker, Ceideah Walker, Kyilar Walker, Shana Walker and Madeline Walker, 10 great grandchildren; siblings, Robert Day Walker, III (Jennifer), Claudia Lognion (J.J.), Patrick Walker (Ruth), Joseph Walker (Misha), Timothy Walker (Michelle), Annette Denote (Jimmie); and two “chosen sisters”, Cherie Gaspard and Mary Newman.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Tammy Walker; brother, Anthony Walker; parents, Robert and Georgia Walker, brother-in-law, Mike McVay; brother-in-law, Donald Peacock; great nephew, Judson Peacock, and nephew, Little Mike McVay.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
