Wendell Alton Chesson, 72, of Houston, Texas died on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Home Sweet Home Assisted Living facility in Houston. Wendell was born on May 22, 1943 in Toomey, LA and was raised in Vinton, LA until joining the United States Armed Services. After serving his country, Wendell owned and managed Greenway Optical in Houston. He was a long standing member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Wendell is survived by his partner of 40 years, Dr. William (Bill) Askew; four brothers, Donald, Darryl, Thimothy and David Chesson; one sister, Rita Fiore; 20 nieces and nephews; 13 great nieces and nephews; and 15 great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Carrie Chesson; two brothers, Bud and Gene Chesson; and two sisters, Edith and Joann Buford. Funeral services for Wendell will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11 am at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry, LA with Father Gijo Ikkaramatton, M.S. officiating. Burial will be in New Hackberry Cemetery under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 4-8 pm at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with a rosary at 6 pm and will resume on Thursday from 9 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Wendell's memory be made to the American Heart and Stroke Association. On Saturday, October 10, 2015, a Celebration of Life for Wendell will be held at St. Claire's' Condominiums at 1111 Bering Drive Houston, Texas 77057 between 2-4 pm. All family and friends are welcome to join.
