Wilbert "T-Boy" Derouen, 75, of Lake Charles, died Friday afternoon in a Houston, Texas hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Derouen was a native and life resident of Lake Charles. He was a 1954 graduate of LaGrange Senior High School where he met many life-long friends. He worked at Cit-Con retiring in 1998 with 26 years of service. He was a member of Boilermakers Local # 79.
Mr. Derouen was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
Mr. Derouen enjoyed hunting, cooking, and spending time at his camp, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He leaves behind heavy hearted family members and friends, but also leaves us with many precious memories.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Virgie Marcantel Derouen; a son Troy Derouen and his wife Cathy; a daughter Pam Navarra and her husband Tommy both of Lake Charles. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Morgan Fairchild and her husband Achille, Grant Derouen, Blaire Derouen, Amanda Navarra, Melissa Navarra; one great grandchild, Parker Fairchild; and four sisters, Eula Mae Babineaux, Shuney Breaux, Joyce Tilley, and Kat Salter.
His parents Amous and Della Duhon Derouen and a brother Jimmy Derouen preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM Monday and from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM Tuesday.
