Wiley James Lebert

Wiley James LeBert, 74, passed quietly into eternity with Christ, Saturday, August 16, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on August 26, 1939 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was a life-long member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Wiley married his high school sweetheart, Jackie Mae Broussard LeBert, on February 16, 1957. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He dedicated his life to his family and his passion for carpentry. Being a licensed Master Carpenter, Wiley served for over 42 years with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union, Local 953. He rose to the position of Superintendent of the Apprenticeship School, and ultimately as Business Agent in 1988 until he retired in August of 2004. Wiley was very involved in the Lake Charles community serving on various boards, charities, and clubs. Wiley proudly served over 25 years on the Board of the Lake Charles Regional Airport. He also volunteered to supervise the building of Millennium Park as well as the rebuilding in 2012. He enjoyed coaching for Lake Charles City League, Pee Wee, Junior and Senior football, baseball, and basketball teams from 1975-1986. Wiley also loved fishing, taking beach trips with his family, and cheering on the New Orleans Saints. He was devoted to his family and will be missed dearly. Wiley is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jackie, and their six children; Peggie (Reggie) Nash, Pam (Bruce) Mulvey, Paula (James) Gallier, James Allen (Terry) LeBert, Sr., Connie (David) Houssiere, all of Lake Charles, LA; and Kelly (Kent) Caraway, of Jennings, LA. He is also survived by his sisters Janette LeBert Fullerton and Shannon Fullington, his brothers Elton LeBert, Clarence LeBert, Jack LeBert, and his sister-in-law, Alice Lupo. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren; Brandon Nash (Jamie), Chelsea Mulvey Benson (Kyle), Lisa Nash Church (Ricky), Donovan Mulvey (Rosemary), James Allen LeBert, Jr. (Brenna), Lauren LeBert Smith (Stefan), Katelyn Gallier Ryder (Zachary), Hannah Mulvey, Joshua LeBert (Mika), Alexandra Gallier (Alex), Matthew Gallier, John-David Houssiere, William Caraway, Mary Caraway, Grace Houssiere, Gabrielle Caraway, Emily Caraway, Luke Houssiere, and Caroline Caraway, as well as his great-grandchildren; Brenna Nash, Caleb Nash, Hayden Church, Hudson Church, James Allen LeBert III, Cecilia LeBert, Bowen James Ryder, and two on the way (Amélie Benson and Stella Smith). Visitation will be on Monday, August 18, from 4 - 9 P.M. with a rosary at 6:30 P.M. The funeral mass will be on Tuesday, August 19 at 10 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Msgr. Danny Torres will officiate. Interment services will follow at Consolata Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church or School.
