Wilfred E. O'Blanc

June 19, 1925 — February 8, 2012

Wilfred E. O'Blanc, 86, of Hayes passed away at 8:56 AM, February 8, 2012, in his residence surrounded by his family.


Mr. O'Blanc was a lifelong resident of the Bell City/Hayes community. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. O'Blanc owned and operated O'Blanc's Exxon and O'Blanc's Grocery and Bait Shop in Hayes for many years.


He is survived by his daughter Vena O'Blanc Cormier and husband Roger of Lake Charles; three sons Harris O'Blanc and wife Susie of Holmwood, Tony O'Blanc and wife Louise of Bell City, and Steve O'Blanc and wife Lisa of Lumberton, TX; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; his companion and caregiver Bessie LeDoux; two sisters, Willa Mae Lovitt and Rita Harp and husband James.


Mr. O'Blanc was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve O'Blanc; two children Betsy O'Blanc Dalzell and Matthon Jacob O'Blanc.


His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Saturday February 11, 2012 in St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bell City. Reverend Emmanuel Tanu will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Seven Dolores Mausoleum in Welsh under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Friday with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM, and continue from 8:00 AM until 10:15 AM in the funeral home.
