Wilfred "WADE" Hanks, 76, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, surrounded by family in his home in Raymond, MS
Wade was born on May 20, 1948, in Mamou, LA and was a lifelong resident of the Lake Charles/Moss Bluff area. He graduated from McNeese State University and worked at the local plants as a laboratory technician.
He was an avid wood worker building all types of things, such as cabinets and houses. He was an avid gun collector and owned Jean Lafitte Promotions. Wade loved to go camping and was the founder of Magnolia RVer's Group in Mississippi.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tara Whitmire Hanks; children, James Hanks (Tracy); Nikki Hanks-Adams (David) mother of his children, Betty Trahan Hanks; and grandchildren, Devan Hanks (Skylar), Timmothy Hanks, and stepson, Casey Whitmire, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred Joseph Hanks and Stella Louise Harrington Hanks and siblings, Arthurine Witherwax, Leonard Hanks, Anthony Hanks, and Stella Heard.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Moss Bluff. Father Charles McMillin will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Old Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until the start of the service with a rosary being recited at 10:00 AM
