Will Don Harvey

Will Harvey, 83, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away at 2:49 AM on Thursday, July 7, 2022.

Mr. Harvey was born November 1, 1938 in Palmeto, LA and was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He began working at Kroger when he was 16 years old, in Diary and Produce, where he later retired. Mr. Harvey was a member of Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Kinder and a devoted follower of Christ. Throughout his life he was the glue for his family. Always available to give advice, teach and nurture those around him but he was straight forward. He enjoyed playing dominos and checkers. Mr. Harvey was quite a talented man. He could cook, draw, paint, whittle, which he taught to his nephews and sing. Singing was something he enjoyed doing, especially with his family and friends. On Sundays he and his family would sing gospel music at the nursing homes. Mr. Harvey loved flowers and showed his love through his beautiful yard work. He will be remembered for faithfully reading his bible.  He will be missed dearly for his guidance and abundance of wisdom by those who loved and knew him.

Mr. Harvey is survived by his siblings, Mary (Jim) Blake of Lake Charles, Carol (Frank) Macias of Fletcher, OK, Bruce, Lois; brother of love and dear friend, Gary Hooper of Lake Charles; beloved pets, Nipper, Casper and Abby and numerous nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Harvey; siblings, Wilbert, Laura, Robert “Buddy”, Sylvia, Johnny, Gene and beloved pet, Pepper.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Brother Jimmy White will officiate. Visitation Monday will be from  4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and will resume Tuesday at 9:00 AM in the funeral home.  Interment services will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
