Willard James Castille, age 72, passed away peacefully in the early morning on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Willard spent his entire life on his family’s land in Carlyss, LA. Willard married the love of his life, Jackie Castille, and they spent 41 wonderful years living, working, and raising a family on the same farm.

Willard was a hard-working man who absolutely loved farming. He loved everything about it; from the soil and weather to the tractors and equipment. Willard planted fields of rice and soybeans primarily, and then had a crawfish pond and garden on the side as well. He loved to work and it’s what he did in his spare time. When he wasn’t working on the farm with his only son, James, he was watching his daughters, Stephanie, and Elizabeth, play in various sports. Later in his life, he loved to get his family together and spend time with them any chance he got, with Mrs. Jackie and him traveling all over for various events to watch their family grow and enjoy life together. Willard and Jackie adored their grandchildren and lived for them in their late years. Willard and Jackie were inseparable and were always together, no matter what. The love that they shared was beautiful and they exemplified what it meant to be married “until death do us part.” 

Willard was very strong and loved the Catholic faith. He attended St. Theresa’s his entire life for both mass and adoration, serving as an usher for the church. He never missed either of those weekly opportunities as long as he was physically able to do so. Willard led his family by example and lived to serve others in all aspects of his life.

In addition to his love of the Carlyss/Sulphur area, he loved the people here. Willard never met anyone that was a stranger to him. He always had a smile, a handshake, and a small joke for anyone he met or ran into. Willard was very soft hearted and soft spoken and was loved dearly by all those who knew him.

Willard is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Castille Gary, and Husband Kenneth; son, James Castille and wife Jessica; daughter Elizabeth Castille Bergeron and husband Jay; ten grandchildren; Kolby, Riley, Addison, Anna, Tanner, Clara, Evelynn, Caden, Madelyn, and Aubree; his brother Milton Castille and wife Linda; his sister, Barbara Castille Meaux and husband Curtis; his sister, Margaret Castille; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Castille, and his parents, Mable, and Saul Castille.

A Catholic Mass will be held at 11:00am, Monday, November 22^nd, 2021, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Carlyss, LA. Father Luke Krzanowski will officiate. He will be buried next to his wife at Mimosa Pines Cemetery, also in Carlyss, LA. Visitation will be held from 3pm to 8pm, with a Cursillo Rosary at 6pm, Sunday, November 21, 2021, and will resume at 8am Monday morning at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Willard’s pallbearers will be Kolby Gary, Riley Gary, Kenny Gary, Tanner Castille, Caden Bergeron, and Jay Bergeron.
