William Anthony Jones

William Anthony Jones 81, of Lake Charles, LA passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, in his residence.

William was born on March 4, 1941, in Lake Charles, LA to the late Ani Walter Jones and Thelma Griffin Jones.  He joined the Army and served 1967-1968, 1970 – 1971 these are tours in Vietnam. He celebrated his 81st birthday surround around his family. William Anthony Jones worked and retired from General Motors. He enjoyed a good road trip from Michigan to Louisiana, and from Ohio to Louisiana. He enjoyed telling his son – in – law Lupe Ramirez, Jr about his life events in the Army. Thank you to grandsons, Justin Heath, Allen Anderson, Jr., Clarence D. Rosamore, Jr., and son-in-law Lupe A. Ramirez, Jr. for being excellent caregivers, as well as Southwest Louisiana Independence Center, Stat Home Health, and St. Joseph Hospice.

William lived a full life of doing what he wanted, when he wanted and how he wanted.  He was passionate about playing pool and was extraordinarily talented and professional. William Anthony Jones will receive an honor that will go on his headstone which is the Air Medal, it is awarded to individuals who served with the armed forces, distinguish themselves by heroism, outstanding achievement, or by meritorious service while participating in aerial flight. The rest of the medals that were earned by William are as follows; The National Defense Medal (NDSM) award of the United States Armed Forces established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953, The Vietnam Service Medal (VSM) was established by Executive Order 11231, July 8, 1965 to all members of the Armed Forces of the United, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (VCM, VNCM) was a decoration presented by South Vietnam to recognize members of allied forces who served. The 1960 Bar device is given with the medal and was meant to indicate the years the war was fought from beginning to end, The Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) awarded to infantrymen and Special Forces Soldiers O/S. Army Overseas Service Bars are worn on an Army uniform to represent the cumulative amount of time spent overseas, meaning one bar could be earned for each 6 months, and the medal for his EXPERT SHARPSHOOTER, with a rifle and a pistol.

He leaves to cherish his daughter Wanda Heath Ramirez (Lupe Jr.) brother Richard (Katherine) Jones, Sister-in-law Rose Cheryl Jones, 10 grandsons and 1 granddaughter, 9 great-grandsons his favorite Niece Darlene Curtis, Danielle Jones, Charity Jones, nephew Derrick Jones, Craig Lewis, Pedrick Jones (Ange) , Armond Jones (Sharra) and a host of great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; Ani and Thelma Jones, his oldest brother; Sidatsingh Jones, and brother Otis Van Cliff Jones, two sisters; Mary Elizabeth Jones, and Esther Ruth Curtis, son David Wayne Jones, wife Carvette Jones.

Cremation by Johnson Funeral Home and Burial will be at 1620 Evangeline Highway, Jennings, LA 70546 Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
