William B. "Bill” Wadsack, 76, of Lake Charles, passed away at 8:31 a.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2022 in his home.

Mr. Wadsack was born September 10, 1945 in Goldsboro, North Carolina on Seymour Johnson Airforce Base to two military parents. He soon moved with his family to the Lake Charles area, where he lived his entire life. He was a 1963 graduate of LaGrange High School and received his Bachelor’s degree in Upper Elementary Education from McNeese State University. He taught middle school with the Calcasieu Parish School Board for 20 years. He began his career at Molo Middle School, where he met the love of his life, Marilyn Johnson. Mr. Wadsack taught math, English and history during his career, and retired in 1990 from S.P. Arnett Middle School in Westlake.

Following his retirement from teaching, he worked for Isle of Capri as a blackjack dealer for several years. He was an avid and excellent duplicate bridge player, achieving the status of Gold Life Master. Throughout the years, he enjoyed traveling the country to play in various bridge tournaments, with his favorite place being Las Vegas. Mr. Wadsack was a past member of First Presbyterian Church. He had a love for his cats, was a great storyteller and loved Star Trek, Star Wars and sci-fi franchises. But above all he was a diehard sports fan. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears and enjoyed regaling people with stories of players’ stats, numbers and careers.

Wadsack of Lake Charles; son William C. “Billy” Wadsack and wife Jennifer Jarnagin and their son Nate of Garland, Texas; son Daniel Wadsack of Lake Charles; brother John Wadsack and wife Debbie of St. Francisville; sister Patricia Wadsack of Bee Cave, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
