William Bert Powers

William A. Bert Powers, 78, of Lake Charles, LA passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013. After graduating from Marion High School, he served in the United States Army. Bert worked for Conoco Oil Refinery. He retired after twenty-seven years of service to begin a good life of camping and cooking for his family. He greatly enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling in his travel trailer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Luke and Ada Mae (Daharsh) Powers; sister, Gloria Powers Doescher and wife, Carrie (Touchet) Powers.

He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife, Louise Crawford Powers; daughters, Angela (Mark) Mouton, and children, Michelle and Lindi, Julie (Walter) Shivers and children, Cody and Paige; one son, Luke Powers and children, Lauren, Payton and Briana; step-son Jerry Crawford; step-daughter, JoAnne (Greg) Grimes and children, Matthew and Austin; niece, Renee' (Bobby) Gunn and many friends.

Bert was a member of Memorial Baptist Church of English Bayou.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 01, 2013 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 02, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Charles Winstead will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery.
