William "Bill" Atkins

William Bill Atkins, 68 passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 in his residence. Bill was born in New Orleans, LA and had been a resident of Sulphur for 23 years, coming from Donaldsonville. He was a U. S. Army Vietnam veteran. He enjoyed tinkering around the house, working on golf carts, generators, go carts, and various other things. Bill retired from RSC/ Prime after over 35 years of service and upon his retirement, he began working part-time with McManus Construction Co. He was proud to have completed building his LSU room at his home. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all Bill is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rita Jo Atkins of Sulphur, four daughters, Jenean Adams and husband, Wayne of Lake Charles, Heidi Stewart and husband, Mike of Lumberton, TX, Lana Hicks and husband, Jeff of Longville, and Shana Bourgeois and husband, Chad of Prairieville; brother, Richard Atkins of Covington; 12 grandchildren, Tana Frye, Brooke Jones, Greg Hicks, Kendall Frye, Shane Leger, Tyler Ray, Madison Stewart, Lydia Bourgeois, Kenzie Linscomb, Lauren Adams, Brayden Adams and Taylor Stewart; and 2 great-grandchildren, Hayden and Greyson. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lennie Atkins; and 3 brothers Joe Atkins, Riley Atkins, and Donald Atkins. A celebration of Bills life will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Clark officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery North in Sulphur under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at Johnson and Robison Funeral and will resume on Monday at 10 a.m. until time of the service. Pallbearers will be Jeff Hicks, Wayne Adams, Chad Bourgeois, Mike Stewart, Kendall Frye, Tyler Ray, Jason OQuinn and Brayden Adams.
