William Franklin Carter

December 28, 1941 — April 21, 2022

William Franklin Carter, 80 years old, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022. He was born on December 28, 1941 to Herbert Franklin Carter and Ruby Lee Riddle Carter in Lecompte, LA.

In 1962, William "Wild Bill" joined the United States Air Force.  He was a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist for over 20 years.  He was a country boy who got to travel the world: He went to Thailand, Germany, England, Spain and many places in the United States.  He loved to go catfishing (in a creek, bayou or river).  He played many games of chess with his children and grandchildren (and he would not just let you win).  He was an Alabama football fan from an early age, Roll Tide!  He loved listening to Connie Francis and Patsy Cline.  He was caught many times singing to their songs.  After retiring from the U.S.A.F. and Northrop Grumman, he perfected the art of growing tomatoes and he became, lets just say, he became a "Political Analyst."  He was a Military man through and through.  He had compassion for his fellow man.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 50 years, Maria Pollinger Carter, his children: Greg Carter, John Wagner, Theresa Jiminez husband Jerry, grandchildren: Aubrey, Ashly, Austin, Brandi, Michael, Kamryn, great-grandchildren: Eli, Liam, Brice, Kody. sister: Mary Kay Bass husband W.D.  He was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson Jaxon.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
