William Frederick Powell, 68, went to his heavenly home in Christian faith on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 after a lengthy illness. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of forty-four years, Marilyn Hebert Powell; 4 daughters, Anne-Marie Powell Hebert, Jennifer Snyder and husband Donny, Caroline Harrington and husband Bobby, Brooke Sensat and husband Greg; and a son William Frederick Powell II "Freddie" and wife Katie. He also leaves behind sisters Brenda McDowell , Linda Dellinger and Sue Moore of Rock Hill, SC. He loved his ten grandchildren and enjoyed teaching them; they are Madison Snyder, William Hebert, Reilly Armstrong, Hudson Snyder, Mia Armstrong, Grant Harrington, Sophia Snyder, Gracie Sensat, Evelyn Harrington, Annabelle Powell, and baby Powell on-the-way. "Fred" as he was known to his friends and family, was a US Marine and served his country in Vietnam. He graduated from McNeese in Forestry and was District Manager for Louisiana State Parks and also the Firearms Instructor for the state employees for many years. After his retirement he moved into the country to fulfill his dream of raising longhorn cattle and wild pigs. He was a faithful member of Grace and Truth Gospel Tabernacle in Beaumont, TX. He loved riding his motorcycles with Marilyn and rode all over the country. He was the former President of the LMCI and a member of the CVMA. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren gun safety and shooting in which they all excelled. He also loved working on his tractors and lawnmowers. Outdoors is where he loved to be. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Oscar Powell. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jack Bell will officiate. Graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service. The family would like to express a special word of thanks to Dr. Tannir and staff at M.D. Anderson Hospital, Dr. Michael Broussard and staff at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and Heart of Hospice, especially, Heather, for all of the love and care given. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.
