William Guidry

January 7, 1943 — June 25, 2012

William "Bubba" James Guidry, 69, the epitome of a hard-working, dedicated, wise, and proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and uncle died Monday, June 25, 2012. He fought a courageous battle against multiple ailments. He lived his life exactly how he wanted to and listened keenly to the sage advice handed down by his parents, the late Harry D. Guidry, Jr. and the late Wilma Johnson Guidry.

William enjoyed working throughout his career, whether it was for Chrysler, American Airlines, Otis, Kerr-McGee, Isle of Capri, or his side hustles such as cutting grass, selling Amway, substitute teaching, driving school buses, working cattle or being landlord.

William was raised in the Methodist church, but later converted to Catholicism. He was at peace with God in either religion.

William was a provider and teacher. He did for himself. What he had, he worked for. When sickness took over his body, he talked to anyone who would listen.

William is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Juanita Simon and Cheryl Brown.

William leaves to cherish his devoted and equally hard-working wife of 46 years, Mary Felma Guidry, his sons, Kevin (Deidre) Wayne Guidry and Kendrick (Kimalee) J. Guidry. He also leaves his siblings Reverend E.J. (Carolyn) Guidry of Lafayette, LA, Linda (John) Guillory, Wilmanette Guidry, Harry III (Christine) Guidry, all of Welsh, LA, and Debbie (William) Frazier of Katy, TX; five grandchildren, Shanice Guidry, Tanika Hayes, Ashlyn Stewart, Logan Guidry, and Kynna Guidry; and a host of sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Many were special to him and you know who you are.

Funeral services will be held at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake, LA at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 30, 2012. The Rev. Albert Borel and Deacon Fred Reed will officiate. Burial will follow in Perkins Cemetery in Westlake, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:00 AM until the start of the service with a rosary being recited at 10:15 AM.
