William "Bill" Ogea, 89, of Lake Charles died Monday January 13, 2014 at a local hospital following an extended illness. Bill was a native of Bell City, and resident of Lake Charles for many years. He honorably served our country during World War II in Europe. Following his service to the country, he was a rice farmer, and progressed his way to becoming a well respected self employed carpentry contractor. He, along with his wife, managed rental properties for many years as well. He was a long time member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and gardening, always being the first to share his fruits with others. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Oneal and Valentine Ashford Ogea; four brothers; two sisters; son, Ralph Ogea; daughter, Jeanette Ogea; and a great grandson. Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 71 ½ years, Willie M. Breaux Ogea; daughter, Linda F. Ogea; one sister, Mary Duplantis; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be observed at 10:30 AM Wednesday January 15, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven with Monsignor James Gaddy serving as celebrant. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, with a rosary being recited at 6:30 PM. Burial, with military honors, will be at Consolota Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Darrin Hine, Joseph Ogea, Matt Ogea, Chad Sullivan, Justin Sullivan, Jack Sullivan, Ed Deihl, and Chris Breaux. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the grandchildren who helped in the care of their Paw-Paw Ogea during his illness as well as Dr. Arthur Primeaux, and the staffs of Christus Hospice as well as Unit 43 of Christus St. Patrick Hospital.
