William Ream

February 18, 1942 — April 15, 2018

William “Bill” Russell Ream passed away peacefully on April 15, 2018 after a brief illness. He was 76 years old.

Bill was born Feb. 18, 1942, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania where he received his early education. Following this he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. These years of service instilled in him a respect for his country and especially for those who serve. Upon completion of his military career, Bill returned to the Pittsburgh area and was employed for 30 years by U.S. Steel as an electrician.

After retirement Bill left the “cold country” and moved south, living in Texas and Louisiana. Here he met and married Barbara Bartlett. Although they only had seven years together, they were wonderful years filled with love, laughter and fun. Bill and Barbara loved to travel, especially in their motorhome “Rosie Posie”, and spent many hours exploring new places and meeting new friends. They also enjoyed fishing, spoiling animals, drinking coffee with family and trying out every new restaurant in town. Though he was happy with his “adopted Southern” status, he remained an avid and vocal Pittsburgh Steeler Football and Penguin fan.

Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Bartlett Ream of Iowa; his two children, Christina Ream Foret of Killeen, Texas and William (Billy) Ream, Jr. and wife Annet of Conroe, Texas; and former but forever son-in-law, Arthur (Art) Foret of Killeen, Texas; three grandchildren, Alexis Foret, Jayden Johnson and Kennedi Ream; sister, Jean Porter of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania; many nieces and nephews and his special and spoiled “fur babies”, Max and Samantha.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Evelyn Ream of Pennsylvania.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to each employee and staff member of St. Patrick Hospital who treated Bill and every family member with compassion, dignity and professionalism.

Special thanks to Dr. Jacoby for her genuine counsel and care.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral services. Mr. Ream will be cremated with burial to follow at a later date. If desired, memorials may be made to the Hobo Hotel of Lake Charles or a no-kill animal shelter of your choice.
