William Stewart Sharp, 93 of Sulphur, LA was called Home on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.
His parents Andrew and Jean Sharp immigrated to Canada from Scotland, before he accepted a job in Detroit, Michigan. On November 28, 1927, they welcomed their first of three children; a son William.
He grew up in Montgomery, Ohio and attended Montgomery High School. Shortly after graduation, as a first generation American, he answered the call to serve his country, joining the United State Navy. It was during his years of service, he was stationed in Orange, TX and enjoyed the mild winters so much that after he received an honorable discharge he stayed. He was a proud father to his five children; Sue, David, Andrew, Daniel, and Melinda.
Upon separation from the Navy, he began working as an instrument tech with Gulf States, then accepting a job with Firestone. When he was not spending time with his family, you could find him enjoying the countryside, either hunting or fishing. After retirement from Firestone, he would enjoy crafting intricate woodwork, growing delicate Orchids, and enjoying his children and grandchildren.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents; a brother, Andrew Sharp, and a sister Isobel Webster.
Those left to cherish his memory are; his wife of 32 years Deanna Rita; his children; Sue Delarosa, David Sharp, Andrew (Carolyn) Sharp, Daniel (Annetta) Sharp, Melinda Sharp, Vicki (Bobby) LaFleur, Sherry (Roger) Sutherland, and Scott Fontenot; Grandchildren, Christopher (Lisa) Delarosa, Clinton (Brittany) Sharp, Duncan Sharp, Stewart Sharp, Christian Zimmerman, Jason Sutherland, Krystal Briley, Summer Washington, and Scott Joseph Fontenot; great great grandchildren, Taylor Sutton, Gabriel Delarosa, Lizzy Sharp, Clark Sharp, Taylor Sharp, Emma Sharp, Logan Sharp and fourteen step-great great grandchildren.
The family will welcome friends Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Lake City Baptist Church 3940 Hollyhill Rd. Lake Charles, LA 70605 from 10am-1pm. A funeral will begin at 1pm, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles.
