William T. Young

February 25, 1930 — October 6, 2012

Mr. Young was born on February 25, 1930 and passed from this life with his family by his side in his Moss Bluff home.


Mr. Young was the only child of the late Walter and Mildred Moore Young. He was married to Florene Ritchey Young for 61 years and together they had 5 children. Mr. Young was an active member of Jubilee Family Church. He had a great love for Astronomy and spent his time studying scientific literature and star gazing. His passion for God's creation led him to build 4 telescopes and two observatories. He was elated to share his knowledge with his family and friends. Mr. Young was the President of the Lake Charles Astronomy Club for 3 years. Before retirement, he was the owner and operator of Young's Service Station and Young's Fruit Stand in North Lake Charles.


He is survived by his loving wife, Florene Young; his son, Steven Young (wife Phyllis); son Stanley Young; daughter, Tyrell Busby (husband Phillip) all of Moss Bluff, LA; son, Greg (wife Shelly) of Lake Charles; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, George Russell Young; grandson, Jason Young; and great granddaughter, Rushell Baehr.


His funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Michael Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday at 8:00 AM until the time of service.
