William Wade Thompson

William Wade "Bill" Thompson, 83, of Moss Bluff died on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in a local hospital.


Mr. Thompson was born on November 22, 1927 in Houston, TX and lived in Lake Charles since 1948. He was a graduate from Gulf Coast Military Academy and attended LSU. Mr. Thompson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. In 1948, he was employed at Calcasieu Marine National Bank for 47 years and retired as Executive Vice President. Following his retirement, he volunteered for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office for nine years at the Louisiana Tourist Bureau.


Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Matthew Wade Thompson of Baton Rouge, Scott Lowell Ellis of Ottumwa, IA, and David Brian Ellis of Baton Rouge; three daughters, Gail Landreneau of Deridder, Lynne Ellis of Fort Worth, TX, and Susan Eileen Hebert of Moss Bluff; a brother, Allen C. Thompson of Moss Bluff; sixteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his beloved cat, Prissy.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Fayne Hines Thompson; his parents Ouida and Allen Thompson; and a brother, Ellis "Woody" Thompson.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 4, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Weldon Bares will officiate. Burial will be in Old Ritchie Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the start of the service.
