Willie "Buddy" Turpin

J. “Buddy” Turpin, born and raised in Vinton and retired in Sulphur, born April 27, 1932 died May 25, 2022 at the age of 90 years old. Buddy was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. Buddy was preceded in death by his wife (Elsie) of 66 years, his father, mother, brother and one daughter.  Buddy raised three children, Debbie Turpin Harvey (Ron), Patricia Turpin LeBlanc (deceased) and Thomas Wayne Turpin (Dana). 

Buddy loved and treasured eight grandchildren (Brad, Michael, GW, Courtney, Megan, Amberly, Maggie and Mason) fourteen great-grandchildren (Tanner, Chance, Chelsea, Elizabeth, Brynna, Garrett, Haygen, Collin, Harleigh, Lacey, Hudson, Ryann, Vincent and Gemma) and four great-great grandchildren (Kingston, Maddox, Nash and Jensen).

Buddy met his wife while serving in the Army during the Korean War.  Buddy spent his life after the Army serving his family, community and the kids of Vinton.  Buddy was instrumental in the development of many sports and civic organizations in his hometown of Vinton.  Buddy retired from Amerada Hess Oil Company to enjoy and spend time with his family at the age of 65 years of age.

Buddy and Elsie’s lives together will be remembered and celebrated by family and close friends in a graveside service after cremation.
