Willie Ray Conner

Willie Ray Conner, 84, of Lake Charles died at 9:20 AM on Monday, January 21, 2013 in a local hospital.


Mr. Conner was born on February 19, 1928 in Creole, LA. He was a bulk fuel delivery driver for Boudoin and Richard Exxon Distributor and a production foreman for Jordan Oil for 44 years. Mr. Conner was also co-owner of Tarpon Freezo in Creole.


He was a member of Cameron Parish Police Jury for 24 years, having served several terms as President. Mr. Conner was also a member of the Louisiana State Police Jury Association. He served on the Board of Directors for Imperial Calcasieu. He belonged to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Creole where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and J.P. Boudoin Senior Council #3014.


Mr. Conner enjoyed working and serving people through politics.


He leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Bourriague Conner; his parents, Helier and Lucille Faulk Conner; and his sister, Marie Teet Conner.


A funeral mass will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Creole. The Rev. Tim Goodly will officiate. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a scripture service, led by Rev. Wayne LeBleu, and a rosary being held at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday in the funeral home from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM.


The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Richard Sanders. They would also like to acknowledge the care and compassion given to Mr. Conner at Christus St. Patrick's Hospital Unit 41 with Dr. Zhan and Dr. Khan. Also a special thank you to Christus Hospice and staff, patients, and regular visitors of Landmark.
