Willis "Stan" Stanley Willson, 72 of Sulphur passed away on October 16, 2015 in a Kinder Care Center. Stan was born in Raton, NM and a life-long resident of Sulphur, LA. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School and played football. After graduating he attended Northeastern which is now ULM on a football Scholarship. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Carlyss. Stan was a veteran of the U S Army serving as a Green Beret Medic during the Vietnam War. Stan is survived by his wife of 37 years, Karen Willson of Sulphur; his daughter, Jennifer Loren Downing and husband Jacob; his three sons, Willis Stanley Willson, Jr., James Scott Willson and Michael Dean Willson and wife Tiffany; his sister, Darlene Fritzinger; his brother, James Willson and wife Grace; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James William Clarence Willson and Willdagene Willson; his brother, William George Willson and his brother-in-law, Richard G. Fritzinger. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 10 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Carlyss with Rev. Steve Shirley officiating. Burial will be held in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction on Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 19, 2015 from 6-9 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with visitation continuing on Tuesday at the church from 9 A.M. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
