Wilma Dean Breaux-Miles, 70, was called home January 17th to be with her Lord and Savior. By her side was her devoted husband Jerry Miles.
She was born in Lake Charles, LA on May 5, 1947 to Willie and Hazel Breaux. After graduating from Iowa High School and McNeese State University, Wilma became involved in the educational system of Calcasieu Parish. She worked as a librarian at Vinton Elementary, Jackson Street Elementary and Ralph Wilson Elementary. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Counseling and then worked at Moss Bluff Middle and Barbe High School as a counselor. Additionally, she held the position of principal of Holy Family School. She was actively involved in Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, Alpha Chi Chapter and Alpha Delta Kappa, Nu Chapter. She held numerous offices during her many years in these two organizations. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel and served as a reader.
Wilma married Jerry Miles on July 30, 1988. Besides her loving husband Jerry, others left to cherish her kind and gentle spirit are her sister Willie Jean LeBleu, nephew Dale LeBleu, and niece Denise Degeyter (Bryan). She is also survived by Wilbur Miles, Dennis Miles and Beverly Melancon. She was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Hazel Breaux, brother-in-law Willie LeBleu and sister-in-law Marie Miles.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 4-8PM. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM by her friend, Linda LeBert-Corbello. Johnson Funeral Home will reopen at 8AM on Friday, January 19, with a service to begin at 10AM. Deacon Glenn Viau will officiate, followed by burial at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Pall Bearers will include: Dale LeBleu, Bryan Degeyter, Gregory Corbello, Joe Reon, Bryan Bergeron and Lee Pronia.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to all friends and family for their many kindnesses during the past two years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in the name of Wilma Dean Breaux-Miles.
