Our cherished mother and wife, Wilma Lee Hood, 85, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on August 25, 2024.
Born on April 9, 1939, in Denham Springs, LA, to John and Donnis Martin, Wilma met and married her beloved husband, Robin Richard Hood, on April 1, 1961. The couple made their home in Lake Charles, LA, until Hurricane Laura led them to relocate to their daughter’s residence in Washington State for two years, before returning to the Lake Charles area.
Wilma was a radiant and loving presence in the lives of all who knew her. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and hospitality, always open to friends and family. Her kindness and generosity touched many, and her unwavering faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life. She continued to praise Him until her final moments.
Wilma is survived by her devoted husband, Robin, and their five children: Michael of Dallas, TX; Daren (Debbie) of Lake Charles, LA; Layne (Cathy) of Lake Charles, LA; Roxanne (Ben) of Buckley, WA; and John of Baton Rouge, LA. She was also the proud grandmother of twelve grandchildren: Ryan, Amber, Jacob, Amber, Drew, Leiflyn, Brian, Catherin, Molly, Jarrett, Macy, and Mandy, as well as eight great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
Wilma’s legacy of love and faith will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Kenneth Adamson and Rev. William Whited will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until the start of the service.
